What was that book called...

Thinking fast and slow

Unfortunately, most don't want to think slow anymore

Instead they're mesmerized by symbols, simplicity, brands and bright colours.

Sales pitches and marketing.

Feminist. Pink hair. Younger. Hip. She's on TV.

She must be right they think.

I was in NZ March - July 2020, and remember rebuking myself after seeing this lady on television speaking on behalf of the government about Covid. “She might not look like a serious scientist“ I said to myself, “but things are different over here, so I will judge her by results”.

Well, I did, and the results were terrible. So my first heavily prejudiced reaction was the correct one. For scientists, it is all about the data and revealing things which are true. For social justice activists it is all about themselves, “their truth” and getting things politically and socially aligned with their contemporaries.

Always trust your gut ! But in all seriousness, this kind of self promotion when people are hurting and angry could be extremely dangerous.

‘Dangerous’?

You’re too kind. It’s outrageously immoral.

That too. No kindness here!

The thing is that her hair is more important to her than her research is (if there is any research). So it's perfectly ok, even in PC land, to point this out.

Yep. And this kind of thing was happening long before covid. https://www.jneurophilosophy.com/index.php/jnp/article/view/2

Great article. These people were all paid to do this.

NZ Govt spent a 100m or more on media in the 3 years or more from 2020. There are still plenty of stories in the media that say they were bought to you by the NZ on air funding.

All those receipts went to the very large corporates that own the media here. Including Murdoch, whoever owns (what was once) Fairfax, Bauer Media.

And very likely some was sprinkled around to Siouxsie Wiles and co as she is employed by Bauer (they call themselves Spinoff & pretend to be NZ raised just like Stuff.co.nz does).

I shall report back on the movie. "know your enemy" and all that.

I was quite disappointed with "River of Freedom". In fact I figure I was close to walking out on it about halfway through.

OK look forward to your thoughts on it. Out of interest, what was it about RoF that you were disappointed in?

Its concentration on the upper middle class in the 2nd half of the movie. I got sick of looking at the signs that indicated that the interviews were being done in 2 or 3 million dollar houses in the nicest parts of the country. It therefore lacked a radical axis that I was looking for. I was going to go and watch it a 2nd time in fact, with pen and notebook this time.

Also only the Maori wardens took no notice of the police and stayed their ground. Everyone should have come back the next day.

Their choice of maori names for their websites is hilarious most of the time.

Te Whare Puta i ao is that American clown rapper's org. It looks to me like 'the house of whore world'. Whare - house (Maori) ao - world (Maori) puta/e - whore (Fr) puta - bitch (Sp) and Maori is not necessarily that different to the Spanish or French.

My working thesis at the moment is that there is a lot of Spanish language in Maori.

I have an interesting video on Siouxsie. I'll add it to my Substack tonight.

Gwen, when she was here, said that her father was a disbeliever in it all btw and had a poor opinion of Ms Information. I might be paraphrasing a little there but that was the context.
